The latest Beam model, BeamPro 2, has a giant 24-inch touchscreen display and a neck that is height adjustable.
The precursor to Beam was a robot called Texas, which was built by an engineer named Dallas, who lived in Indiana.
Remote visitors can use Beams to explore the San Diego Air & Space Museum, de Young Museum (in San Francisco), and Shedd Aquarium (in Chicago).
For their 2015 CES booth, Suitable built MEGA Beam, an 18-foot (5.5-meter) tall, working version of the robot.
The founder of Suitable Technologies is Scott Hassan, which means you can say, "Beam me up, Scotty!" when using your Beam.
Suitable Technologies was spun out of legendary Silicon Valley robotics lab Willow Garage.
