History

The first version of the Adaptive Gripper was developed by Samuel Bouchard and Jean-Philippe Jobin. They cofounded Robotiq, based in Québec City, Canada, to commercialize the system. The company has since developed a broad range of three- and two-finger grippers. Robotiq also offers products and services for factory automation, including sensing and vision, palletizing, screwdriving, and machine tending.
